Her holidays behind her, double Olympic 200m champion Veronica Campbell Brown begins to look ahead at the Olympic year in earnest - beginning with her 2012 debut at the U.S. Open later this month.

"Hello Fans,

"After a year hiatus, it’s good to be back interacting with you and sharing what’s going on in my world. It’s a new year and what a year for us lovers of our wonderful sport, it’s an Olympic year! I always smile as an Olympic year approaches as just like those aspiring for presidency or aiming to maintain the political status quo in the United States the four year cycle is very important to us collectively.

"I closed out, what was for me,  a successful 2011, with my husband Omar spending time with friends. It was good to relax and unwind for a bit as training has been intense. We did sessions of background work in Atlanta and now we are settled here in Florida.  A lot of my fans have been asking me about the 200m “3peat”, however, I take the same approach as always, one day and one meet at a time. I will start my competitive season with the US Open at Madison Square Garden on 28 January.  It will be strange to compete in the “Garden” minus the Millrose Games label, the two have a rich history, it will be equally strange competing at the 50m distance, this will be the shortest distance at which I have ever raced! I am uncertain of what to expect at such a short distance, however, as always I will give of my best and New York has always been one of my favorite stops on the athletic circuit.

"I am somewhat undecided about the World Indoor Championships, however, I will make a decision quite soon.

"I look forward to sharing more of my 2012 with you.

"Thanks for reading."
