Best ever Anti-Doping Educational Programme in Barcelona, says IAAF Ambassador Wilson Kipketer

13 July 2012BarcelonaOver 1,000 junior athletes were seen gathering at the IAAF Anti-Doping Educational Outreach Programme carried at the Montjuic Olympic stadium in Barcelona over the course of the 6-day IAAF World Junior Championships.

The IAAF once again presented an Athlete Outreach Programme in Barcelona aimed at informing and educating athletes on a wide range of anti-doping issues. Several hundreds of athletes and support personnel directly participated in what remains a hugely successful programme and collected information pamphlets during their visit to the stand in the stadium.

IAAF Ambassador Wilson Kipketer who supported the IAAF’s Outreach programme here in Barcelona and is a valiant supporter of a drug-free sport declared: "The IAAF’s outreach is one of the governing body’s most important educational programmes in terms of Anti-Doping.

"This year in Barcelona we have reached out to over 1,000 junior athletes and it was fantastic to see how they spontaneously came to us.

"I have worked with the IAAF in Poland in 2008 and Lille last year for this same programme but this year I think it was the best ever. The way the athletes took part, got involved, they were basically here all the time. Which is fantastic!"
