Former Bahamas Amateur Athletic Association President Harold Munnings dies

The IAAF has been notified of the sad news of the death of former Bahamas Amateur Athletic Association President Harold Munnings on 15 August, at the age of 90.

At the 1960 Olympics Games, Munnings served as the chef-de-mission of the Bahamas’ team and he was also the flag bearer in Rome.

An engineer by profession, and also a civil servant, Munnings continued to make significant contributions to the nation especially in the areas of public service and athletics.

Munnings’ son Tim anchored the 2001 IAAF World Championships gold-medal winning 4x400m relay team.

The IAAF would like to pass on its condolences to his family and many friends.
