Monte-Carlo – The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) is delighted to announce a further raft of broadcasting deals have been agreed via the brokerage of IEC and Dentsu, who are its marketing partners respectively for Europe/Africa and the rest of the world.
Latin America
A deal for TV rights (terrestrial, cable and satellite) which include the 2010 IAAF/VTB Bank Continental Cup, Split, Croatia and the 2011 IAAF World Championships, Daegu, Korea, has been settled by Dentsu, with the OTI, in 15 Latin American territories. These are Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. This deal is the largest ever made by the IAAF with the OTI.
This deal, along with previous agreements in major territories such as USA (NBC/Universal Sports), Brazil (Globosat), Canada (CBC), Mexico (Televisa) and Argentina (TyC), Pan-Latin American satellite deal with ESPN and a
Pan-Caribbean deal with Television Jamaica, ensure complete coverage across the Americas.
Asia
Individual broadcasting deals have been concluded by Dentsu with ASTRO, for the territories of Malaysia and Brunei for all IAAF World Athletic Series (WAS) events until 2013, and with VCTV for the territory of Vietnam for all WAS events through 2013, starting with the 2010 IAAF/VTB Bank Continental Cup, Split, Croatia.
Sub-Saharan Africa
Following the conclusion earlier this year of a 4-year non-exclusive pay TV deal with Supersport for Sub-Saharan Africa, IEC has now finalised two additional deals in the territory.
Firstly, with the start-up pay channel Zuku TV, for 9 Eastern African territories, Kenya, Zambia, Malawi, Uganda, Eritrea, Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania and Ethiopia, through 2013, an agreement which means IAAF WAS will be covered by two pay channels within in the territory for the first time.
Secondly, IEC has confirmed the first terrestrial deal for the territory of Ghana, through 2013, with a consortium of broadcasters led by Crystal TV and also including Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, TV Africa and ETV-Ghana.
It is expected that IEC will confirm additional deals for Sub-Saharan Africa in the near future.

L'IAAF conclut de nouveaux accords de télédiffusion
Monte-Carlo –L'IAAF est ravie d'annoncer la signature de toute une nouvelle série d'accords de diffusion, conclus par l'entremise de IEC et Dentsu, ses partenaires marketing pour, respectivement, l'Europe/l'Afrique et le reste du monde.
Amérique Latine
Un accord pour les droits de diffusion TV (hertzien, câble et satellite) qui inclut la Coupe Continentale IAAF/VTB Bank 2010 de Split, en Croatie et les Championnats du Monde de l'IAAF 2011, Daegu, Corée, a été négocié par Dentsu, avec l'OTI, pour quinze territoires d'Amérique Latine. Les pays concernés sont la Bolivie, le Chili, la Colombie, le Costa Rica, Cuba, l'Équateur, El Salvador, le Guatemala, le Honduras, le Nicaragua, le Panama, le Paraguay, le Pérou, l'Uruguay, et le Venezuela. Cet accord est le plus important jamais conclu par l'IAAF avec l'OTI.
Cet accord, en parallèle avec les accords conclus précédemment dans des territoires majeurs tels que les USA (NBC/Universal Sports), le Brésil (Globosat), le Canada (CBC), le Mexique (Televisa) et l'Argentine (TyC), ainsi que les accords portant sur l'Amérique Latine (ESPN) et la région des Caraïbes (Television Jamaica), signifie que le continent américain est désormais couvert dans son intégralité.
Asie
Des accords de diffusion ont été conclus par Dentsu avec ASTRO - pour les territoires de Malaisie et Brunei pour toutes les compétitions de la Série Mondiale de l'Athlétisme (SMA) jusqu'en 2013 - et VCTV - pour le territoire du Vietnam - pour toutes les épreuves de la SMA jusqu'en 2013, y compris la Coupe Continentale IAAF/VTB Bank 2010, Split, Croatie.
Afrique subsaharienne
Suite à la signature plus tôt cette année d'un accord non-exclusif de quatre ans sur une chaîne à péage avec Supersport pour l'Afrique subsaharienne, IEC a maintenant finalisé deux accords supplémentaires pour ce territoire.
Le premier accord est avec la nouvelle chaîne à péage Zuku TV, et porte sur neuf territoires de l'Afrique de l'est; ces pays sont le Kenya, la Zambie, le Malawi, l'Ouganda, l'Erythrée, le Burundi, le Rwanda, la Tanzanie et l'Éthiopie. Cet accord, qui s'étend jusqu'en 2013, signifie que la SMA de l'IAAF sera retransmise, pour la première fois, par deux chaînes à péage au travers de ces territoires.
Le second accord a vu IEC confirmer le premier accord hertzien pour le Ghana, jusqu'en 2013, accord conclu avec un consortium de diffuseurs emmené par Crystal TV et comprenant la Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, TV Africa et ETV-Ghana.
On prévoit la signature de nouveaux accords de droits audiovisuels par IEC en Afrique subsaharienne dans un avenir proche.
