Monaco – The IAAF Kids’ Athletics programme was one of the distinguished winners at the 4th Peace and Sport Awards Ceremony held last night in Monaco (27).
H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and Joel Bouzou, President and Founder of “Peace and Sport L’Organisation pour la Paix par le Sport " presented the awards for terrific achievements that embody what sport can do to build bridges between divided communities and promote dialogue.
'The award for the best peace project from an International Sports Federation' went to the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
The IAAF has developed an educational program for 6-12 year old children offering athletics activities that are fun, attractive, and accessible to all without discrimination. The "Kids' Athletics" programme, translated into six languages, uses adapted material, made from local materials, waste products, and natural resources available in the immediate environment.
The winners of the Peace and Sport Awards were chosen by a jury of eminent personalities deeply invested in peace-promotion or the consolidation of peace through sport: The 2011 jury was composed of:
- H. E. Nawal EL MOUTAWAKEL, Member of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee and Director of the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games in Rio 2016.
- H. E. Youssouf FALL, Secretary General of CONFEJES (Conference of Ministers of Youth and Sports of French –speaking States and Governments)
- Hein VERBRUGGEN, President of SportAccord
- Intendant General Lassana PALENFO, President of ACNOA (Association of African National Olympic Committees) and member of the International Olympic Committee
- Dmitry CHERNYSHENKO, President of the Organizing Committee of Olympic Games and Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014
- Marisol CASADO, President of the International Triathlon Union, member of the International Olympic Committee
- Ralf-René WEINGARTNER, Director of Youth and Sport, Council of Europe
- Olivier LAOUCHEZ, CEO of Trace TV
The Peace and Sport Awards were launched in 2008 and this year were presented in front of an audience of more than 500 prominent figures from politics, sport, the private sector, civil society who are participating in the 5th Peace and Sport International Forum.

Le programme Kids’ Athletics à l'honneur lors de la cérémonie des Peace and Sport Awards
Monaco - Le programme Kids’ Athletics de l'IAAF a été parmi les lauréats honorés lors de la 4e Cérémonie des Peace and Sport Awards qui s'est tenue hier soir (27) à Monaco.
SAS, le Prince Albert II de Monaco, et Joël Bouzou, président et fondateur de "Peace and Sport, l’Organisation pour la Paix par le Sport" a honoré des initiatives originales qui illustrent ce qu'il est possible d'accomplir, au travers du sport, pour le rapprochement de communautés divisées et la promotion d'un dialogue.
Le Prix du "Projet pour la paix mené par une fédération sportive internationale" a été décerné à l'IAAF.
L'IAAF a développé un programme pédagogique, intitulé Kids'Athletics, qui s'adresse aux enfants de 6 à 12 ans. Ce programme offre aux enfants la possibilité de pratiquer des activités d'athlétisme ludiques et attrayantes, accessibles à tous sans aucune forme de discrimination. Le programme Kids' Athletics, traduit en six langues, fait appel, pour ses équipements, à des matériels disponibles localement et à des produits recyclés.
Les vainqueurs des différents Prix sont désignés par un jury composé de personnalités éminentes, toutes profondément impliquées dans la promotion ou la consolidation de la paix au travers du sport. Cette année, le jury se composait de:
- S.E. Nawal EL MOUTAWAKEL, membre du comité exécutif du Comité international olympique et directrice du Comité d'organisation des Jeux olympiques de Rio 2016
- S.E. Youssouf FALL, secrétaire général de la CONFEJES (Conférence des ministères de la jeunesse et des sports des pays et états francophones)- Hein VERBRUGGEN, président de SportAccord
- Intendant Général Lassana PALENFO, président de l'ACNOA (l'Association des Comités nationaux olympiques d'Afrique) et membre du Comité international olympique
- Dmitry CHERNYSHENKO, président du comité d'organisation des Jeux olympiques et paralympiques d'hiver, Sotchi 2014
- Marisol CASADO, présidente de la Fédération internationale du triathlon, membre du Comité international olympique
- Ralf-René WEINGARTNER, directeur de la Jeunesse et des sports au Conseil de l'Europe
- Olivier LAOUCHEZ, directeur général de Trace TV
Les Peace and Sport Awards, inaugurés en 2008, ont, cette année, été présentés devant un auditoire de plus de 500 personnalités issues de la politique, du sport, de l'entreprise privée ou encore de la société civile, tous présents pour le 5e Forum international Peace and Sport.
