Pierre Weiss honoured by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco

MonteCarloDuring a private audience given by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco to the members of the IAAF Council on Thursday afternoon (10) at the Palace in Monaco, out-going IAAF General Secretary Pierre Weiss was honoured by the Principality.  

HSH Prince Albert II bestowed upon Pierre Weiss the Médaille de Vermeil de l’Education Physique et des Sports.

Pierre Weiss joined the IAAF as Assistant to General Secretary in 1985 (to 1987), and after the second of two spells as General Director of the French Federation (FFA from 1977-85 and 1987-91) returned to the IAAF as General Director from 1991 to 2006, and has been General Secretary since 2006.

Weiss has been succeeded as IAAF General Secretary by Essar Gabriel.
