Athletics coach Robert Marchand dies in Nice attacks

The IAAF is deeply saddened to hear that athletics coach Robert Marchand, president of Marcigny Athletics Club, was among the victims of the Nice attack on 14 July.

Marchand, along with many others from his athletics club, had travelled down to Nice because they were set to attend the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Monaco on 15 July.

“He was a very dedicated and passionate man,” said Louis Poncet, the mayor of Marcigny. “He had advanced the club to the highest level.”
