FacebookTwitterEmail

The 11th Rome City Marathon (next Sunday, March 13) set a record: more than 10,000 runners will take part in the race, the first time ever for an Italian marathon. The 10,000th runner was 36 year old Laura Mancinelli, registered on 1 March at 11.15 am. At last the entrants will be 10,126 = 8314 men plus 1812 women.

6289 are Italian, 3837 came from abroad (the most from Germany: 902). Last year the Rome City Marathon set the previous record, with 9124 athletes at the start.

The 115 entrants for the wheelchair and handybike race are also a record for an Italian race. Only at the Berlin and New York City Marathons have more disabled athletes competed.
