World Marathon champion and record holder Paula Radcliffe (GBR)gave birth to her first child at the Princesse Grace Hospital in Monaco at 9.43am this morning.
The daughter for whom Radcliffe and her husband, the former British international 1500 metres runner, Gary Lough, have still to decide a name, weighed a healthy three kilos (approximately six pounds seven ounces).
Both mother and child are said to be fit and healthy after the delay to the eagerly awaited occasion, the baby having been expected on Saturday 6 January.
Radcliffe 33 who entered hospital yesterday afternoon was in labour "for a long, long time - it hasn't fully hit me yet," said the delighted father, who was present throughout the birth.
