Australian 800m Champion and Beijing Olympic team member Lachlan Renshaw is used to winning most events he enters, and the 2008 IAAF Fantasy Athletics Game is no different.  Lachlan is currently the number one ranked player after the first 5 of 12 events!  Lachlan is just 10 points clear at the top of the overall rankings in what looks set to be a close battle all the way to the finish.

Lachlan first heard about the free fantasy game through a fellow runner who convinced him to join up.  So does being an elite athlete give him an advantage in the game?  Lachlan doesn’t seem to think so (although his lead might suggest otherwise).  “No, it’s a great game because anyone can play and do well.  You need to have luck, but picking the in-form athletes seems to be one of the keys.  It is a really interesting game for the fans and a way for the public to get to know the athletes”, said Lachlan.

The overall winner of this year’s game will receive a trip for two to an IAAF event.  Last year’s winner was a guest of the IAAF at the World Indoor championships in Spain, but if Lachlan can maintain his lead he might have even better uses for the prize…perhaps putting it towards travel to an event or flying over some friends and family to watch him compete.  There are also prizes for the winners of each of the 12 meetings – and the next events are the DN Galan on 22 July and the London Super Grand Prix meeting on the 25th and 26th of July – so it is never too late to join the game and win some great prizes.  Click here for a link to the game’s home page.

IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2008 is an exciting online game covering the 2008 Golden League season as well as a number of other meetings, including of course the IAAF World Athletics Final. Each time an athlete competes and finishes in the top 8 during a final (or the top 8 overall combined times), he or she will be awarded points in the game. Your goal is to assemble a team of champion athletes which you believe will be as successful as possible during the season. After twelve separate meetings, and with a bit of luck, one player will be named champion of the 2008 IAAF Fantasy Athletics game. There are also great prizes on offer during each of the Individual Meetings themselves.
It is not too late to join the game - great prizes are available for each meeting.
