Austria to send squad of 12 to Lille - IAAF World Youth Championships

Vienna, AustriaFive girls and seven boys will represent the largest Austrian team ever at the 7th IAAF World Youth Championships in Lille, France, July 6-10. The global event will mark the international debut for all of them.


In the combined events, Verena Preiner (4748), Felix Schmid-Schutti (5791) and Andreas Meyer (5579) will contest the Heptathlon and Octathlon, respectively. In the throws the biggest hope is Nicole Prenner (Javelin Throw, 45.31m).


On the track, two athletes will run the 800m: Nikolaus Franzmair (1:53.37) and Dominik Stadlmann (1:54.09). Ines Futterknecht, daughter of the former 400m hurdler Thomas Futterknecht, will compete in the 400m (55.76) as well as Bettina Raffalt in the 400m Hurdles (62.94).


Other hopes in the jumps are Katharine Mayer in the High Jump (1.75m), Lukas Wirth (4.80m) and Matthias Freinberger in the Pole Vault (4.61m) and David Göttlinger in the Long Jump (7.19m).
