Italy’s Olympic Marathon champion Stefano Baldini and women’s World Marathon champion Catherine Ndereba of Kenya will run the 8th annual British 10k London Run on Sunday 6 July 2008, four weeks before they contest the Olympic marathons in Beijing, China.

Baldini, who is also European champion at the marathon, and Ndereba, who was a silver medallist in Athens 2004, will be joined by the Netherlands' Lornah Kiplagat, the reigning double World Road Running champion and World record holder for 20km and Half Marathon who intends to run the 10,000m in Beijing.

Baldini has had a spate of injury problems in the last two years and finished 12th in this year's London Marathon, while Ndereda is a two-time World champion (2003 / 2007) and was fifth last autumn in New York which was her last marathon.

Ndereba has a 10km road PB of 31:04 (2001) and Lornah Kiplagat 30:32 (2002); Baldini's PB for 10km is 28:10 (2002).

The Asics British 10k London Run is run over much of the proposed London 2012 Olympic Marathon course.

Over 26,000 participants will take to the streets of central London watched by thousands of spectators through the heart of the British capital.
