Benjamin Rotich wins Barcelona marathon

24 March 2002Barcelona – Kenya’s Benjamin Rotich won the Barcelona Marathon in a time of 2:12:07. He defeated Tanzania’s Benedict Ako (2:15:26) and his compatriot Samuel Kosgei (2:15.28).

Second last year, Rotich had practically no opposition this year breaking through after the 30km mark.

Ukraina’s Galina Zhul'Yeva won the women’s race ahead of Italy’s Tiziana Di Sessa.
