Van Niekerk and Bowie to compete at Adidas Boost Boston Games

South Africa’s Wayde van Niekerk, the world 400m champion and the fastest man in the world last year over one lap of the track, will compete at the Adidas Boost Boston Games on 17-18 June.

The organisers of the meeting have announced that Van Niekerk will compete in the 400m at the Friday (17) night session at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville.

He will be joined on the track that evening by Ajee Wilson, the world indoor silver medallist at 800m, and Robby Andrews, who was fourth in the 1500m at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in March.

Tori Bowie, whose times of 10.80 and 21.99 for 100m and 200m currently top the 2016 world lists, will also bring her blazing speed to Charles Street in Boston on Saturday (18).

The Adidas Boost Boston Games is a two-day festival featuring a both a fan-friendly track event and the first ‘street meet’ of its kind in the USA.

Among the top international stars previously announced are Olympic medallists Jenn Suhr, Nick Willis, Yohan Blake, and Meseret Defar.

At the Adidas Boost Boston Games, races of 400m and longer will be held on Friday evening at the George Dilboy Memorial Stadium and will be highlighted by a festival at which fans can also mingle with the stars of the event.
