Organised by the historical Slavia UK club, this years edition of the Bratislava Youth Meeting included several Under 18s who may compete at the World Youth Championships in Bydgoszcz (16-18 July).
Some of the highlights of the meeting included performances from the Cypriot sprinter, 17 year old Stefanos Ioannou who won the 100m in 10.72. He seems to be following in the footsteps of his successful compatriots, Markoulides and Katsantonis. Also showing great potential in the high jump, the 17 year old from Belarus, Andrei Chupsa, came third with 2.09m
Particularly noteworthy amongst the women were the performances of the Hungarian Xenia Frajka, first in the Javelin with 48.94, and the triple jumper Irina Beskrovnaja of Slovak Republic (born on the 28/12/82), who came second in her event with a great 12.97 (+1.1). In the distance races, the winners were the Hungarian Krisztian Kovacs (8:48.73 in the 3000 m) and the Slovenian Svetlana Bajic (10:08.30).
