Aware of the importance in increasing the level of Athletics knowledge and skills within clubs and schools, the Brazilian Athletics Confederation (CBAt) has organised a training programme aimed at further developing Athletics professionals in the country. In the spirit of the Athletics’ World Plan we find their commitment to furthering coach and referee skill sets through training programmes inspiring and we hope you do too.

The CBAt has committed to making coach and referee training their priority in 2011. They have already confirmed four development seminars by February with many more to follow.

In line with the Athletics World Plan, the CBAt has confirmed trainings in the following subjects: coaching, refereeing and a clinic to young athletes. The CBAt has met the challenge of hosting courses in such a large country by decentralising their programmes and courses and spreading out their opportunities across the country.

Lectures are now set to take place in four different cities inside three Brazilian states. In doing so and in taking it to different cities in the country, the CBAt empowers local associations to continue organising such events and spreads knowledge about practising Athletics.

This action contributes to enhancing the quality of Athletics trainers, instructors, referees and the athletes themselves, creating a virtuous circle for a sustained growth of Athletics in Brazil.

How does your organisation work to increase the level of Athletics knowledge and skills within clubs and schools? If you want to share some of your own experiences please contact us at worldplan@iaaf.org with a short summary, and a member of our editorial team will contact you. Together, we can share in the spirit of the Athletics’ World Plan.
