Olympic heptathlon champion Nafissatou Thiam headlines the list of Belgian athletes who are set to compete at the AG Insurance Memorial Van Damme on 9 September, the second of two IAAF Diamond League finals.

Just six days before turning 22, Thiam won a surprise gold medal in the heptathlon at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, smashing the Belgian record with a winning score of 6810.

Within her series, Thiam set a world heptathlon high jump best of 1.98m – a mark that was higher than the winning jump in the individual event in Rio – and Thiam will contest that event in the Belgian capital.

Belgium’s world silver medallist Philip Milanov will compete in the discus, while European decathlon champion Thomas van der Plaetsen will line up for the long jump. The three Borlee brothers – Kevin, Jonathan and Dylan – will contest the 400m.
