IAAF Senior Vice President Sergey Bubka was elected to the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) council during the Sportaccord meeting which is currently being held in Denver, Colorado.

The men’s Pole Vault record holder Bubka received 21 out of 26 votes to reach yet another seat on the board of an international sporting association after his election to the IAAF Council in 2001 and the IOC Executive board in 2000.

The ASOIF also re-elected Denis Oswald as president on Tuesday after surprise challenger Hassan Moustafa dropped out prior to the vote.

Oswald, president of the International Rowing Federation, has held the post since 2000 and is also head of the IOC coordination commission for the London Olympics.
