World Championships 100m bronze medallist Darren Campbell will once again be competing in the televised Irish Indoor Athletic Championships at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast, 14 - 15 February.

Campbell, 30, was easily the most outstanding British sprinter at last August's World Championships in Paris where he clinched the bronze medal in the 100 metres with a season's best of 10.08 which was a mere 0.01secs behind winner Kim Collins of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The Briton then followed this spectacular return with 4th place in the 200 metres behind winner John Capel of the USA, an agonizing .01 seconds away from another bronze medal. These performances were particularly significant in that they illustrated that Campbell, the Olympic 200m silver medallist had finally recovered from a lengthy period of varying injuries.

Local athletics fans will remember Campbell's win in Belfast a year ago when he defeated Mark Lewis Francis over 60 metres (6.64secs). His opposition this year will again include Ballymena's multi-Irish record holder Paul Brizzell.
