Kenyan Felix Limo who sped to a course record at last year’s Fortis Rotterdam Marathon clocking 2:06:14 to better the 2:06:50 jointly held by Ethiopian Belayneh Dinsamo (1988, former world best) and Josephat Kiproni (2001), will return to Rotterdam on Sunday 10 April 2005 for the 25th edition of the race.

Limo who also won last autumn's Berlin Marathon (2:06:44) currently leads the Road Running Event in the IAAF World Rankings. The 24 year-old has only run once this year on the roads posting a superb 58:34 clocking for 20km at the Alphen aan den Rijn on 6 March which is the fastest time in the world this year for that distance.

Limo heads an all-star line-up in Rotterdam which includes fellow countrymen Titius Munji (PB 2:06:10) and William Kiplagat (PB 2:06:50). Munji’s best was set finishing third behind Tergat when the current World record was established in Berlin in 2003, while Kiplagat set his PB when coming third in Amsterdam in 1999. Kiplagat is also a former winner of the Rotterdam race, taking a 2:07:42 victory in 2003.

The women’s race will be without last year’s champion Zhor El Kamch.of Morocco, but the fans will keep their interest thanks to the presence of ‘local’ star Lornah Kiplagat, the former Kenyan who is now a Dutch citizen and holds a best of 2:22:22 (2003). Her Dutch record is 2:23:43 which was set in the autumn of 2003 after she gained citizenship.
