Dmitry Markov joins the 6metre club
20 February - Russia's Dmitry Markov became the
seventh man in history to clear 6.00m in the pole vault, today in
Auckland, New Zealand. Markov, who lives in Adelaide (AUS), was
competing in the Robin Tait Classic and cleared six metres with
his second jump. A subsequent attempt at Sergey Bubka's world
record height of 6.14 metres was unsuccessful. "It would
take a lot more experience to break the world record, but I am
happy with having cleared six metres for the first time"
said Markov.
His previous personal best was 5.95m.
