Double honours for JJK
American track & field star Jackie Joyner-Kersee, who was honoured with a 'Lifetime Achievement Award' by the Internal Athletic Foundation, at its annual World Athletics Gala in Monte Carlo in November, has received new recognition as she became the sixth person ever to be named an honorary member of the Harlem Globetrotters.
Joyner-Kersee will receive the award when the Globetrotters stop in St Louis on Jan 8.
USA Track & Field has also recognised JJK's outstanding career by naming the second USA IAAF Grand Prix Meet the JJK World Track and Field Invitational. The meet will be held in St Louis Missouri on May 22.
Jackie Joyner-Kersee officially retired from active competition during the 1998 athletics season.
