30 April 2002The Media Service at the 2001 IAAF World Championships in Edmonton was singled out for special praise at the 65th International Congress of Sports Journalists (AIPS) which took place in Athens from 23-28 April .

Jayne Pearce - the Media Service Director at Edmonton 2001 who worked closely with representatives of the IAAF Media & PR department - received an impressive cup from AIPS President Togay Bayatli, who declared that, in the opinion of professional journalists, "There was no question that the facilities offered by the IAAF in Edmonton, as well as the personal service
and attention to detail were the best offered at any sports event in the year 2001."

Jayne, who was IAAF Press Chief from 1987 to 1993, will also be Media Services Director for the next edition of the World Championships and was in Athens, together with the CEO of Paris 2003 St-Denis Essar Gabriel, to make a presentation about the services on offer at that event, which takes place in the Stade de France in August next year. The IOC - represented by Phillipe Furrer - and FIFA - represented by Keith Cooper - also made presentations about the Salt Lake City Winter Games and the upcoming World Cup in football in Korea/Japan.
