European Athletics introduced a new webpage for Barcelona 2010 that offered innovative ways for fans to tune in for their championships. The EA’s efforts to improve the production standards for the coverage of their Athletics events demonstrates the spirit of the world plan, we hope you are inspired by it as much as we are.

For the 2010 European Athletics Championships, special care was taken to ensure that every spectator, whether in the stadium or at home, on TV or online, could experience every bit of the action as it unfolds. A brand new webpage dedicated to Barcelona 2010 was launched on the European Athletics website.

The coverage included daily reports, event-by-event updates, special features on the gold medal winners, live results, a photo gallery and much more.

Social media was also been made a priority, fans could keep tabs on all of the action by following through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.

Courtesy of their long standing partnership with European Broadcasting Union, the championships were streamed live on www.eurovision.met. Besides, athletics fans could also catch daily highlights and behind the scenes action on a dedicated video channel on the European Athletics website.

Audio interviews of athletes were uploaded as they happened throughout the event. End-of-the day audio wraps were also available on the EA website.

This was a great example of how to increase the attractiveness of an athletic event through the use of media.
