A number of gold medal winners from the European Championships in Zurich will line up for the European team at the IAAF Continental Cup to be held in Marrakech, Morocco, from 13-14 September.

In total, 85 athletes from 24 Member Federations will represent Europe at the Continental Cup. Along with 30 gold medallists from the recent European Championships, the team also includes five reigning world champions and one defending Continental Cup champion.

Croatian discus thrower Sandra Perkovic is one of the five world champions on the squad. She is joined by fellow world champion field eventers Bogdan Bondarenko, David Storl, Vitezslav Vesely, and Pawel Fajdek.

The team also includes two athletes who have set world records this year: pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie and hammer thrower Anita Wlodarczyk.

Christophe Lemaitre will be the sole European athlete in Marrakech defending his Continental Cup title. The Frenchman won the 100m in Split four years ago and booked his ticket to Marrakech by finishing second in both the 100m and 200m at the European Championships last month.
