FacebookTwitterEmail

The Regional Championships in Dakar, disputed last Saturday and Sunday at the Leopold Senghor stadium produced some very good performances largely thanks to the participation of athletes from the International Athletics Centre of Dakar (CIAD) and of about ten athletes from Gambia.
The best performance came from Fatou Binetou Fall.

From the beginning of her season at the CIAD, she has shown great potential on the lap. Such as in the meeting on 4 April when she overtook the world champion Amy Mbacké on 400m. Yesterday the young Senegalese won the final of the 200m clocking 23.35 ahead of  top sprinters like Makaridja Sanganoko from Ivory Coast (23.80) and  Fatoumata Coly (24.79).

The other residents of the CIAD did well too: Demba Lam (15.86m - Triple jump), Ndiss Kaba Badji (7.70m - long jump), Oumar Loum (10.43 - 100 m), Delphine Atangana (11.57 - 100 m), Gnima Faye (14.34 on  100m hurdles).

Amongst the other local future talents, Adama Sané, member of the Customs,   set a best  national performance in the javelin with a throw of 42.69m, breaking  the former 10 year old record set by Ndoumbé Gaye. His fellow compatriot from the same club Abdoulaye Wagne doubled up in then 800m and 1500m, with respective times of 1:50.78 and  3:54.75.

In the 400 m, the youngster Mamadou Gueye impressed with a chrono of  48.99.
