Women 200m final

Jamaica's Juliet Campbell capped a great indoor season by winning her first senior world title with a world best for 2001 of 22.64.

She ran a faultless race, reacting well to the gun and negotiating the bends with ease. Already leading by halfway, she held a two metre lead coming into the final straight and, displaying the strength of a former 400m runner, she held off the American LaTasha Jenkins to cross the finish line in 22.64. Jenkins ran a strong final 100m to win silver with a personal best of 22.96. Susanthika Jayansinghe, impressive during the qualifiers, ran a subdued race, finishing fourth with the bronze going to Natalya Vinogradova-Safronnikova of Belarus in 23.17.
