First - Gelete BURKA, ETH

The race was tough. Shorter distance races are very difficult when it's rainy and it's cold. The last 100m especially was tough but I pushed because I simply had to do it. If God helps me, my dream is to win.

[On the absence from the semi-final of teammate Meskerem Assefa who had qualified]: She had to get stitches in her legs after being spiked here, and she hasn't recovered. I ran very cautiously to avoid being tripped like her and suffering the same fate.

The only aim was to qualify. It was not important whether I am first or fifth. This race was so slow because in this heat there were only the best athletes. So we were all waiting for the last lap to sprint.
