Flash Interviews: High Jump Women Final

GoldBlanka VLAŠIC, CRO

I'm just relieved, I wanted it so bad.  Now I'm in a state of shock, I don't realize. I'm tired after this. I was the favourite, so had to deal with a lot of pressure. This is a championship, you cannot expect to clear every bar in the first attempt. It was not easy to beat them. Only after clearing 2.03m and 2.05m did I have fun, not before.
My dance? I couldn't repeat it now. In every competition, I actually have a different one. It gives positive energy to people in the crowd. You need to spice it up.

Silver - Antonietta DI MARTINO, ITA

I had already improved the Italian Record twice this year. Three weeks prior to the World [Championships] I had a stress fracture in my left foot and had to rest for two whole weeks. But I wanted so much to go to the championships and I am glad I did. In today's final I did not have any problems.
I knew that I was in a good shape, but I did not dare to believe that it was sooo good. I feel extraordinarily good, this is amazing. I am rejoicing!
When I cleared 2.03 metres I said to myself 'Mamma mia!'
I thank God for this - he gave me the power to go on!

Bronze - Anna CHICHEROVA, RUS

I was injured this year so get the silver is great for me. Also the height is excellent. To jump 2.05 I would need to work more on my technique. I'm not too surprised because my plan was to peak here. I think Blanka can jump world record, I saw her attempts at 2.07 at one of the meetings and it is possible.
