Jamaica’s Tayna Lawrence, the Olympic 100m bronze medallist and the fourth fastest in the world in 2002 with a 10.93 personal best, is the latest addition to women’s 60m at the Energizer Indoor Ghent meeting on 9 February 2003.

The women’s dash already includes local heroine Kim Gevaert the European indoor 60m champion, World 100m champion Zhanna Block of Ukraine, France’s Muriel Hurtis the indoor and outdoor continental champion at 200m, Juliet Campbell of Jamaica and Austria’s Karin Mayr.

There are also a good fields for the men’s sprints. In the 60, there is a trio of top Americans - Lewis, Miller, Harden - and Britain’s double European Indoor 60m champion, Jason Gardener, while the 400m boasts the reigning World Indoor champion Daniel Caines (GBR), the 1999 World gold medallist Jamie Baulch, and European 400m Hurdles champion Stephane Diagana.

There will also be an attempt on the European 5000m record which is still in the possession of legendary Belgium ace Emiel Puttemans who ran in 13.20.8 on Jan. 10th 1976 in Paris, Porte de Pantin. Spain’s European indoor 3000m and outdoor 5000m champion Alberto Garcia, will have a go at the mark, helped by his fellow countryman Pedro Esteso who'll play the rabbit for 2km and then by a Kenyan (who still has to be contracted) who will take over the pace.

If a world record is to be broken in one of the four Energizer EuroSeries events (men's 60m, 400m, Triple Jump and women's 60m), the new record holder will earn 50,000 euros.
