3 April 2000 – Berlin - Olympic 10,000 metres champion Haile Gebrselassie, who skipped the indoor season because of poor form, said on Monday he was planning to resume competing next month.

"I resumed training in January and I don't have problems any more," the Ethiopian said at a news conference organised by a sponsor in the German city of Ulm.

He expects his first meeting to be in the Dutch city of Hengelo on May 28.

Gebrselassie opted out of indoor events because of breaks in his training after an Achilles tendon injury last year.

The four-times World 10,000 metres Champion's main goal this season is the defence of his Olympic 10,000 title in Sydney.
