Girls Discus Throw Final

FacebookTwitterEmail

A sensational lone legal throw from Germany's Julia Fischer was good enough for her to land the gold medal in the Girls' Discus Throw – the third final to be decided on Wednesday.

Fischer's throw, 51.39 metres was also a career best and was achieved on her first attempt.

All her other attempts were no-throws, but despite failing to secure a legal mark after the first, no other competitor was able to surpass her effort, the second shortest in the Championships history.

Sandra Perkovic of Croatia was second with a throw of 51.25m while China's Yuanyuan Jin took third with her 51.20m distance.
