German Pole Vaulter Kristina Gadschiew won the event in Regensburg on Sunday (7) with a 4.55m clearance, beating Anna Battke (4.40). Martina Strutz and Lisa Ryzih both also jumped 4.40 for third and fourth places.

Two days earlier in Saulheim it had been the other way round: Battke had won this event with 4.55m, beating Gadschiew (4.40). Tatyana Polnova (Russia) was third in that event with 4.40.

While Stefan Schwab clocked 10.19 secs in the first round and 10.20 in the 100m final in Regensburg, Robert Hering ran the fastest 200m time with 20.67 (all with a legal tail wind). Marlon Odom took the 110m Hurdles with 13.66 secs, while Tim Lobinger cleared 5.50m in the Pole Vault.

European Indoor record holder Sebastian Bayer opened his summer campaign with a 8.02m jump in Bad Langensalza on Saturday (6). He took third place behind Nils Winter (8.12m) and Chris Tomlinson (Great Britain/8.10m).

At the same meeting World Indoor champion Naide Gomes of Portugal produced a fine 6.90m jump with a legal tail wind of 1.4. This currently puts her in a joint third place in this season’s world list. Olga Kucherenko (Russia) was close behind in second with 6.84, while Turkey’s Melis Mey took third with 6.77.
