PrahaHurdlers were the stars of the 1st day of the Czech National Indoor Championships in Prague´s Stromovka Hall.

First Lucie Martincova achieved the Madrid standard at 60m Hurdles with 8.13 in the heats. She confirmed her good shape with 8.15 in the final.

“I knew I could do it, now I need more competition to be in top shape in Madrid,” said Martincova.

Stanislav Sajdok bettered his best by 0.07 seconds to win the 60m Hurdles final with 7,75 which meant the Madrid standard by 0.02 second. Multievent specialist Petr Svoboda was second in a personal best 7.79.

Already in the heats Jaroslav Ruza tried to achieve the 800m standard, but missed it despite clocking a nex PB of 1:48.47.

60m sprinters achieved national best marks of the year: Stepanka Klapacova with 7.42 and Jan Stoklaska with 6.74, in both cases personal bests.

Pole vault events brought average results of 4.30m for 2001 World Indoor champion Pavla Hamackova and 5.40 for Stepan Janacek who failed the Madrid standard of 5.60.

“I felt cramps and was not able to use harder poles,” was his explanation.

Sarka Kasparkova won her 14th Triple Jump indoor national title which is record of this category.
