IAAF Ambassador for Oceania Beatrice Faumuina of New Zealand donated her 1997 World Championships winning shoes to the IAAF's Athletics for a Better World humanitarian project.

Faumuina struck a surprising gold medal in the women's Discus Throw at the 1997 Athens World Championships to become the first ever New Zealand woman to become World champion.

Two-time Commonwealth champion and winner of the IAAF World Cup, Faumuina finished fourth at the recent IAAF World Championships in Helsinki missing out on a medal by only 46 centimetres.
