IAAF Arbitration Panel decides that Capobianco committed doping offence

P ALIGN="JUSTIFY">MONACOMonteCarloThe Arbitration Panel of the International Amateur Athletic Federation, meeting in Monte-Carlo on March 15 and March 16, has decided that the Australian sprinter Dean Capobianco, was guilty of a doping offence following a positive test at the Hengelo Grand Prix II meeting on May 27 1996.

Following laboratory analysis in Cologne, Capobianco’s sample was found to contain metabolites of Stanozolol and, according to IAAF rules, he will be suspended until May 27 2000.

As a consequence of this judgement, all results obtained by Capobianco after May 27 1996 are declared invalid.

The members of the Arbitration Panel were Lauri Tarasti (Finland), Christoph Vedder (Germany) and Assane Bassirou Diouf (Senegal).
