IAAF AUCTION - 400m Magic - Johnson, Wariner, Perec, Williams-Darling - What’s your bid?

MonteCarloTwo onelap legends, Michael Johnson (USA), and Marie José Pérec (FRA), and two reigning World and Olympic 400m champions, Jeremy Wariner (USA) and Tonique Williams-Darling (BAH) are four more of the major names to have donated items of athletics history for auction beginning Monday 16 January. Details of the web based auction venue and the bidding process will be confirmed shortly.

The IAAF’s humanitarian project ‘Athletics for a Better World: The IAAF Stars’ Donation Fund’, offers fans of World and Olympic track and field athletics the chance to buy pieces of unique sporting history.

Fifty star athletes from the Olympics’ number one sport, 23 of whom have been World Record breakers during their career have donated items of personal memorabilia associated with some of their greatest sporting triumphs to the project whose proceeds are to be distributed between three United Nations organisations, FAO, UNICEF and the WFP.

Michael Johnson (USA)

The autographed 2000 Sydney Olympic USA team track suit Jacket of current double World record holder (200m and 400m) Michael Johnson, the retired multiple World and Olympic champion at 200m and 400m, will be up for auction from 16 January.

Marie José Pérec (FRA)

The signed 1995 World Championship 400m winning competition vest and briefs of French 200m and 400m legend Marie José Pérec, the three-time Olympic and two-time World gold medallist, will be up for auction from 16 January.

Jeremy Wariner (USA)

The autographed 2005 World Championship USA team T-Shirt of reigning World and Olympic 400m gold medallist Jeremy Wariner, who is coached by Johnson’s former trainer Clyde Hart and managed by the World record holder, will be up for auction from 16 January.

Tonique Williams-Darling (BAH)

The competition bodysuit of Tonique Williams-Darling in which she ran to the 2005 World Championship 400m gold medal in rainy conditions in Helsinki last summer has been signed by the World and Olympic champion, and will be up for auction from 16 January.
