IAAF mourns passing of Soliman Hagar

MonteCarloThe IAAF was saddened to hear of the death of Dr Soliman Hagar, 73, Vice-President of the Egyptian Athletics Federation and a former Director of the IAAF’s Regional Development Centre in Cairo (1988 - 2000), who passed away on Friday (30 March).

Dr Hagar also served a number of terms as member of the African Athletic Confederation (AAC) Council, as well as on the IAAF Race Walking Committee, where he always demonstrated most competent skills, and a profound sense of dedication to the development of our sport worldwide. 

IAAF President Lamine Diack, who as a long term President of the AAC worked closely with Dr Hagar said: “On behalf of the entire world athletics family, I would like to convey my heartfelt condolences to his wife, children and grandchildren and to the Egyptian athletics community who lost a truly outstanding and trustworthy member.”
