IAAF ratifies Stacy Dragila's World Record in the pole vault

24 October 2000 - Monte Carlo - The IAAF has officially ratified the World Record in the women’s pole vault of the World and Olympic Champion Stacy Dragila of the United States of America.

Dragila set the mark of 4.63 metres during the US Olympic Trials in Sacramento on 23 July 2000.

The previous record of 4.60 had been set by Emma George of Australia in Sydney on 20 February 1999 and was equalled by Dragila when winning the event at last year’s IAAF World Championships in Seville, Spain.

Dragila is also the World Indoor Record holder with her clearance of 4.62 metres in Atlanta in February this year.

As the winner of the inaugural event in the women’s pole vault at the Olympics in Sydney, Stacy Dragila owns the Olympic record of 4.60 metres.
