Igor Ter-Ovanesian Lectures on CECS Level IV Jumps course in Moscow

23 April 2008A CECS Level IV Course for the Jumps event group was staged by the IAAF Regional Development Centre, Moscow from 28 March – 5 April at the Moscow-based Russia State University for Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The Course Director was Prof. Vitaly Cherkashin (RUS) who was assisted by IAAF Lecturer, Igor Mironenko (RUS). Lectures were also delivered by guest lecturers, Igor Ter-Ovanesian in the Long Jump, Igor Nikonov in the Pole Vault and the Regional development Centre Director, Vadim Zelichenok.

The Course was attended by 19 coaches, including 4 women, representing 15 countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan , Belarus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.  
During the course there was a coordinated mixture of theoretical sessions; planning sessions, where the coaches developed mesocycles and microcycles of training, and practical sessions with young athletes who were students of the University.

The materials developed by the IAAF for this Level IV Course had been translated into Russian and at the end of the course were distributed to the coaches in an electronic format.

During the course the coaches were assessed in four areas: a written exam, an oral exam, microcycle planning and practical coaching. The lecturers reported that all 19 coaches successfully passed the assessments and received their ‘IAAF Level IV – Senior Coach’ certificate.
