Spain's Glory Alozie showed impressive early-season form by clocking the second fastest time of the year in the 60 metres hurdles this weekend.

Racing indoors at the Copa President de la Generalitat Valencian, the Nigerian-born Alozie, who is a naturalised Spaniard set a time of 8.08 seconds, which has only been bettered by American Melissa Morrison's 8.03secs this campaign.

Alozie finished 2003 third in the women's hurdles in the IAAF World Rankings.

The Copa President also saw a season debut for Olympic long jump hopeful Yago Lamela.

Although born in the north of Spain, Lamela trains in Valencia and began a year he hopes will lead to Olympic glory with a below-par leap of 7.85 metres.
