One of the long standing Indian national records the men's 50 Km Race Walk - was bettered today (9 November) when Gurdev Singh clocked 4:16:22, on the third day of the 45th edition of the Open National Athletic Championships held at G.M.C. Balayogi Stadium at Gachibowli, on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The previous mark was held by Kishan Singh (4:19:48) and had been set at Cuttack in January 1970.
The open nationals are the 'selection trials' for the Indian Team who will participate in next year's Commonwealth Games, Melbourne, Australia.
