Gold MedallistEliud KIPCHOGE KEN

"These championships have been so bad for Kenya, and now we have two gold medals.

"I am very happy for that, but most of all I am happy to be the world champion.

"With three laps to go I felt quite strong and I knew I had a chance to push and kick in the end.

"I followed Hicham (EL GUERROUJ) and decided to bite and kick at the end.

"When I won the World Junior Cross Country Championships earlier this year I realized my body is capable of anything."

Silver Medallist - Hicham EL GUERROUJ MAR

"You just can't imagine how happy I am. I'm not even disappointed with silver, because what I wanted above all was another medal for Morocco. I feel so good here in France, French people were so supportive of me and I really felt as though I was French tonight. France is a wonderful country."

Bronze Medallist - Kenenisa BEKELE ETH

"Believe me or not, I am not disappointed. This bronze medal is OK. It was a very tough race, the pace was fast and the others were fast too.

"I knew our only chance of beating Hicham (EL GUERROUJ) is if we wear him out by running fast.

"My only regret is not running even faster all the way from the start.

"I will continue running both th 5 000m and the 10,000m in the coming years."
