Gold MedallistMirela MANJANI GRE

"It was not easy to win here today. I went through a very hard training period, also including some indoor training.

"It took hard work to throw over 65 metres. In practice I have thrown much farther than this and was hoping to repeat it here, however, the weather was a bit too cold for me.

"After the third round I realized while watching the monitor that I will have to throw more than 64 metres if I want to win.

"I knew everybody expects me to win in Athens next year, which puts a lot of pressure on me already. I am not afraid of this, but I have to work even harder to make sure I can medal in front of my home crowd."

Silver Medallist - Tatyana SHIKOLENKO RUS

"I have always won here in Paris, this is the first time I finished second.

"I thought I will throw 67 metres and I was too focused on that and I made some technical errors.

"The crowd here tonight was amazing, people are cheering at everyone and it is such a fantastic feeling."

Bronze Medallist - Steffi NERIUS GER

"This is just great. I'm not particulatly happy with the way I threw tonight and with my best mark, as I have done much better many times in the past, but this bronze medal feels wonderful. Mirela (MANJANI) was really better than any of us tonight.

"30 friends of mine were here watching the competition the stadium, I hope they are happy for me. We'll celebrate this medal together.

"I'll do better next year in the Olympic Games, I'm pretty confident about that. I just want to stay healthy and continue throwing the way I've been doing all these years."
