The race was quite easy for me. I had a strategy ready for the last 600m. In the last 100m, the Turkish athlete tried to make me run toward the outside, but I managed to overtake him. I was a silver medallist in 2010, and this time I'm the world champion. It's every athlete's dream to get a world title and this performance is a good sign for the summer season.

I am very grateful. Two medals for Turkey at the same day - I am very happy. All those people cheering for me! It was a good race but at the last metres I was very tired. But I tried my best. By all means, I will also do my best in London. Today I was very strong with the crowd here cheering for me. I felt at home.
Third - Mekonnen GEBREMEDHIN, ETH
This is my first medal at a major championships and it is equally special putting Ethiopia on the medal tally. We had a slow race so everyone was packed and it was difficult to move to the front. I chased the Turkish and Moroccan until de last lap and held on for third. This is a good start in an Olympic year.
