Istanbul 2012 - Flash Interviews - Women's Triple Jump Final

FacebookTwitterEmail

Winner - Yamile ALDAMA, GBR

Better late than never. This is my first world title, 12 years after winning my silver in Seville. I am happy with the 14.82m, but I could have jumped farther. I had a problem approaching the board in the third round and did not want to risk it as we have the summer season. This gold is for my mom and my children and a great motivation for London.

Third - Mabel GAY, CUB

It is a bittersweet feeling. I am happy I gave Cuba its first medal here, but I wanted more. We are not fully recovered from the qualification, but I still fought until the end. I did my best and would like to take a short rest before resuming my preparation for London.

Second - Olga RYPAKOVA, KAZ

I must admit I wanted to win today, but I am satisfied considering my technical difficulties approaching the board. I had two good jumps in the end, but were a foul by a bit. I will return home and prepare for London.
