Bershawn Jackson, the 2005 World 400m Hurdles champion and the bronze medallist at both the last Olympics and Worlds is aiming at a sparkling new stadium record at the DN Galan – Samsung Diamond League on 6 August.

Danny Harris has been the owner of the stadium record for 400m Hurdles since 1990 with 47.98sec, and it’s a time that Jackson, this season’s fastest one-lap hurdler, is coming to beat.

Currently with a best in 2010 of 47.32 from the US Championships in Des Moines at the end of June, the chances are good that the 27-year-old will get the 1-carat diamond which is the reward for all stadium records beaten at the DN Galan.

“I look forward to Bershawn Jackson running a formidable race in front of the knowledgeable fans in Stockholm. Now that DN Galan is part of the Samsung Diamond League it is the perfect opportunity to better Danny Harris’ 20-year-old Stadium record,” said meeting director Rajne Söderberg.

The Stockholm field will consist of many of the best hurdlers of this season. Jackson who leads the Diamond Race with 12pts will be challenged by reigning double World champion Kerron Clement, who currently lies second with 10pts, and Johnny Dutch who was send at this year’s US Champs , as well as Puerto Rican sensation Javier Culson, who won silver at the World Championships in Berlin last year.
