Jacob and Schwarzkopf take German multiple events titles

Minah Jacob and Lilli Schwarzkopf were the winners of the German Multiple Events Indoor Championships which were held over the past weekend in Frankfurt.

In the men's Heptathlon 24 year-old Minah Jacob scored 5871 points (60 m – 6.90 / LJ – 7.41 / SP – 13.27 / HJ – 2.00 / 60 m h – 8.17 / PV – 4.80 / 1000 m – 2:50.09). Steffen Kahlert took second place with 5558 while Johannes Schwuchow finished third (5478). The 2006 World Indoor champion André Niklaus had announced earlier that he will not compete indoors this season.

Lilli Schwarzkopf, who had won the bronze medal in the women's Heptathlon at last year’s European Championships in Gothenburg, won the national indoor title for Pentathlon with a personal best of 4617 points. The 23 year-old achieved 8.54 seconds at 60 m hurdles, 1.81 m in the high jump, 13.86 m in the shot put, she long jumped 6.35 m and ran 2:16.32 for the 800 m. 20-year-old Julia Mächtig was not far behind with 4556 points while Maren Schwerdtner took third (4208).
