Jamaica, Las Vegas but ‘nothing better than Kentucky’ for Gay – IAAF Diamond League Ambassador

14 January 2009Tyson Gay’s fame and popularity were exemplified when he attended the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas as visitors to the show packed Sennheiser and adidas’ booth to meet the IAAF Diamond League Ambassador.

Here Gay, the second fastest 100m runner of all time (9.69),reflects not only on his Las Vegas trip but on his visit to Jamaica, and time spent at home with the family.

“I can’t believe it is 2010 already.  2009 flew by...maybe that’s because everyone was running so fast.

My holidays were a combination of family, friends and a side trip to Las Vegas. 

First, I travelled to Jamaica to support Asafa Powell’s Foundation.  When I got there I found a welcoming group of friends and competitors.  Respect is a word that people use a lot in Jamaica but it is also the best way to describe my relationship with Asafa, Usain and other top athletes there. "
