26 May 2002 - Eugene, Oregon USA - Triple Olympic champion Marion Jones who races 100m today at the Prefontaine Classic, will begin her European season with a sprint race in the Czech Republic city of Ostrava on June 12, her manager said on Saturday.

"It won't be a 100 metres, probably a 200," Charles Wells said in an interview with Reuters.

Jones, the reigning World 200 metres champion who was surprisingly beaten to the World 100m title last summer by Ukraine’s Zhanna Pintusevich-Block, begins her 100 metres season at today's IAAF Grand Prix meet in Eugene.

Jones will face a stern test particularly from Olympic bronze medallist Tayna Lawrence of Jamaica, Olympic finalist Savatheda Fynes of the Bahamas and the USA’s 1999 World 200m champion Inger Miller.

Jones recently said she hoped to place a major emphasis this season on lowering her personal best of 10.65 seconds.
